ICC WC Trophy Is Back Home After 13 Years!
Okay! Hold on! Take a long breath! Now shout!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We freaking won it! The T20 World Cup is home and is there any better feeling than this? God’s plan baby! The rush of emotions, heart beating fast, happy tears rolling down the cheeks; feelings we wished to enjoy for a long long time. And our boys did it in the best way possible. Well, it does not always feel bad to shed a tear or two with your baba!
Last night, I planned to sit to write post-match after lifting the cup. You, me, and everyone knew it was coming home but we did not dare to jinx anything. Why? Well, let’s not hold onto the past and instead shout our hearts out it is home baby. Rohit Sharma crying and slamming on the ground, men in blue rushing to hug him, Kohli lifting arms in the air, Pandya crying like a kid; how long we desired for these happy tears.
Waiting to see this day for years and now I do not have a single word to describe what I am feeling, what we are feeling. From 30 runs in 30 balls to clinching the T20 World Cup trophy, heart rate was high, nail biting was ongoing with every constipated fan waiting to rush to the washroom.
What did our bowlers execute today? A clinical bowler-dominated series! From Axar to Pandya to Arshdeep to the greatest Bumrah; 120 balls looked like a visionary. Well, I won’t lie everyone’s heart skipped a beat with every 4/6 by South Africa (They batted so well). But but but our bowlers and Surya’s mind-boggling fielding took us the closest to the trophy.
Our team has always been one of the finest in terms of batting and I really wished not to talk anything about it but the announcement by Kohli was unexpected. We imagined this might be his last T20WC but hearing it from him struck our hearts, quite sharply. However, the GOAT showed why he is the King and why a few performances can never determine his worth, power, contribution, and just him. Captain Rohit Sharma rightly said, ‘He is saving it for the final’.
Can we just take a few minutes to appreciate what Rohit has done today and in the entire tournament? Children, listen to your father when he compares you with Sharma Ji Ka Ladka. Remember the team cutting a cake before embarking on the journey to the USA? Our captain refused the cake from Rishabh Pant and proudly said “Jeetne ke baad cake khayenge“. Only if I had his address, I would have sent cakes for him. Skipper, we will miss you in the T20Is.
I want to write so much but my sheer happiness won’t let me pen down my thoughts today. Tbh, not a bad feeling at all! Last but not the least, we won the T20 World Cup!
